PTAL (Public Transport Accessibility Level)

PTAL is a measure of connectivity by public transport, which has been used in various planning processes for many years. For any selected place, PTAL suggests how well the place is connected to public transport services. It does not cover trips by car.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://opendata.transport.nsw.gov.au/dataset/ptal-public-transport-accessibility-level

Does DRT (Demand responsive transport) or ODB (On demand buses) effect the PTAL measurement? Also how often is this measured?

PTAL is updated every 6 months. On demand services are not part of PTAL measurement, only timetabled services are. You can download the on demand GTFS data from the portal and overlay the shapes onto Mesh Blocks to do your own analysis.

I am missing something, I can only see the 2020 zip? Although it says 2020, but updated this year. Can you confirm it’s this year’s PTAL.

Hi Peeringintolife,

Thank you for your request! PTAL December 2020 has data for 30/11/2021, you can verify it if you open the zip file - see the screenshot below.
The date “August 21, 2023” is the date when new platform for Open Data went life.
