I was surprised this still doesn’t exist. So, based on your link and a couple others here’s a list of Opal Card error codes.
Code: Meaning
51: revenue card in test
52: test card in revenue
53: disabled (currently hotlisted or previous hotlisted)
55: TAP ON displays when second Tap occurs within 10 seconds of first Tap On (gate in entry mode or at ungated station)
56: TAP ON displays when second Tap occurs at same location within 15 seconds of first Tap On (ungated station)
57: TAP OFF displays when a second Tap Off occurs within 10 seconds of first Tap Off (gate in exit mode or at ungated station)
59: TAP ON displays when second Tap occurs at same location within 10 minutes of first Tap On (applies only when gate is in entry mode).
60: TAP OFF displays when second Tap Off occurs at same location within 10 minutes of first Tap Off (gate in exit mode)
65: SINGLE TRIP Ticket invalid for this transport mode
65: SCHOOL Card invalid for travel on current mode or operator
67: SINGLE TRIP Tap outside specified airport zone on ticket
67: SCHOOL Card invalid for travel at current location
70: SCHOOL Card invalid for this date, for example it is being used outside school term
72: SCHOOL Card invalid for the current day type, for example it is being used on weekends
73: SCHOOL Card invalid for this time of day, for example outside authorised travel hours
74: SINGLE TRIP Ticket has been used already. Travel out of specified distance band OR Maximum journey time expired OR Tap on after transfer time limit expired
80: location does not accept card (during transition)
85: unspecified card reader or smartcard error
87: CONTACTLESS The card is old and does not have the features to support contactless payments for transport.
88: CONTACTLESS The card has insufficient funds, or has been reported lost or stolen. Outstanding fares for any prior travel also need to be settled before the same card or device can be used again to travel.
89: CONTACTLESS You are trying to use a prepaid card or your credit or debit card may not be accepted in the Opal network.
90: digital seal is corrupt
91: unknown card type
91: CONTACTLESS You are either using a card other than Amex, Mastercard or Visa, or you are using a card that is not contactless enabled
92: card directory is corrupt
93: card contents corrupt
