Insight from our data - Simple analysis using the open Opal data

The high level analysis below has been conducted by Mathew Hounsell, Senior Researcher at UTS. Mathew accessed the data available from the Transport Open Data Hub and used it to create these visualisations.

LOCATION
Looking at the data, we can see that there is less use of the Light Rail compared to buses and trains on weekdays. And there is not a big shift to the light rail when the trains aren’t running.

The best place to put your café might be in sight of the Dulwich Hill station, with an average of nearly 4,000 passengers a day, but you might consider closing it on the weekends when there are less train passengers.

HOURS
Looking at the hours on the weekday we see a clear commuter preference for the train.

You may want to consider making sure a Dulwich Hill Station shop is open 07:00 to 19:00 with extra staff on during the busier morning and evening times.
