Hi,
I am wondering to you have a location where I may be able to gain access to live traffic action feeds. So, I am able to see when the lights changes are to occur with timings etc?? Im not too concerned about location rather the algorithm used to have the lights change from green to amber and then red … I have an idea for road safety and development and for it to work I would need access to this area.
Thanks
Pottsy
I wouldn’t have expected such a data set to be available - I’d expect there would be significant technology issues as well as intellectual property issues in releasing a live data feed like this to general public, especially as the static data underneath it (list of traffic lights) appears to have errors based on comments elsewhere in the forum.
Thank you. It is unclear if I can actually gain access, I understand the intellectual property issues, however if a memorandum of understanding is established with security guidelines for access and use it could be worked out. I have had a call today and even over the phone they couldn’t give me the correct information. They advised I do GIPPA request for the answer?
Hi @Pottsy,
TfNSW has a Road Safety Technology program that might be of interest. The Road Safety Technology team assesses ideas that may have potential to help improve road safety. On the program web page you’ll find an application form and contact information.
We currently don’t have any data available on the Open Data hub that provides information on traffic light timings. TfNSW does have a Traffic Signal portal and a form where you can request traffic signal reports and data.
The Victorian Department of Transport and Planning has Traffic Signal Configuration Data Sheets available on their website. Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads also provides access to traffic signal reports. In addition, the South Australia Department for Infrastructure and Transport has further information on traffic signal timings available on their website.
We hope these suggestions are helpful.
Many Thanks,
Brandon
Thanks so much as the portal hub really doesn’t have much. Appreciate the info, hopefully it will lead me to what I need.
