Smart Cities & Accessibility Innovation Challenge

We’re proud to announce a new innovation challenge launched by Transport for NSW and the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation.

The NSW Government are calling for submissions on how we can make our cities smarter and more accessible for the citizens of NSW.

The Accessibility challenge centres around four critical issues:

  1. How we can reduce transport disadvantage for people with disability through innovations that improve access to transport in local communities
  2. How we can improve the journey experience of our customers through improved information, convenience and services
  3. How we enable continued engagement with people with disability to understand what they need from our services, and
  4. How we improve partnerships with local councils and other areas of government to ensure that there are no unnecessary barriers

If your idea meets the funding criteria you could receive up to $150 000 in seed funding!

Hey guys

There is now a closing date for applications. Closes Monday April 10th 2017 (in case it’s not clear on the site).
There is also an information session being held on Thursday the 23rd March in Sydney. It will be recorded if you cannot make it on the day.

Hi Alejandro and Yvonne,

Just a question - in what form should the submissions be, or is any form acceptable as long as it addresses the four key areas? E.g. slide pack, white paper, working prototype (if applicable), etc.

Hi @blackscholes, strongly recommend that you register and click on “Post Idea”, you will be shown the form and details that you need to fill out to submit your entry. This form will give you a better idea of what you need to present and answer in your submission. All this while always thinking about the key focus areas and criteria.

The form also has an attachments section where you can upload any document you want, eg. word document, powerpoint presentation, graphics, etc, just anything you think will help communicate your idea.

We also encourage you to attend the information session tomorrow, Yvonne has posted the details above.

Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, in partnership with Transport for NSW and Slingshot will be hosting Accessible Cities Pitch Day on Monday 15th May 2017.

Be the first to see the Accessible Cities finalists present their innovative ideas up close. We received an outstanding calibre of submissions to transform transport for people with disability and make our cities more accessible for all.

The Pitch Day will be held next Monday, 15th May 8.30am - 12pm with location TBC in Sydney CBD. Please RSVP at Eventbrite.

There are only 120 audience places so RSVP quickly to secure your spot.
