NSW Roads Traffic Volume Counts API

Hi Marcie,
I was wondering if the traffic volume count datasets are also available in the Austroads vehcile classification. I understand this data was available historically (.e.g 2013). Or is it available from a different API?

Hi @MC.PP,

yes, there have been no counts on SHB since 2016 and the last counts on SHT were in 2017. I am trying to get clarity on whether counts on these roads may resume.

Hi @Justine_Firth, as far as Iā€™m aware the Traffic Volume Count ā€œClassifiers Stationsā€ have a breakdown of light vehicles and heavy vehicles only.

Iā€™m running the prepopulated example query in the OpenAPI console. Itā€™s returning ā€œUnsupported table nameā€

Have tried other example queries, changing format, etc. All returning the same error. Is it down? Am I missing something???

Hi there, getting 400 errors and ā€œUnsupported table nameā€ errors in the api playground and when I try and access the api generated CSVs. Any timeline for when this issue will be fixed?

We are in the process of updating the api. We have recently been made aware of an issue.

I will update here once the api is available.

Please note note that the endpoint for calling the API has been changed to https://api.transport.nsw.gov.au/v1/traffic_volume

I can get hourly traffic volume. However, I cannot find the speed data mentioned in the ā€œNSW Road Traffic Volume Counts DATASET DOCUMENTATIONā€. Can you help me with this?

Hi Team,
Silly question. How often the data of the API gets updated? I can see in the description of the API that Data last updated was January 16, 2025.
Can you tell me when the latest data would be available to query through the API?
