The Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Open Data Platform uses GTFS Studio, a General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) application to empower users with accurate transport schedules, and real-time updates, leading to reduced wait times and better-informed travel decisions. To provide continued fast and reliable access to data, an upgrade to GTFS Studio has been scheduled.
What is happening?
GTFS Studio will be upgraded on Tuesday 20 May 2025, providing users who manage, view, query and extract TfNSW GTFS -S (static) and GTFS-R (real time) data with faster and more reliable access.
Why is this change occurring?
With increased usage of the Open Data Platform, a need to improve the server bandwidth and speed of functions such as data exports was identified.
Following the upgrade, search and export functions will be faster and more reliable, and data gaps will be reduced with improved access to data from the API gateway. Users will also be able to export up to six months of GTFS-S and GTFS-R historical data.
What does this mean for me?
The upgrade will be completed on the 20 May and no outage or interruption to access is expected to occur. When you log in to the Open Data platform on the 20 May, you will notice that the look and feel of GTFS Studio is slightly different as the application now integrates with the new Open Data platform. There will be no difference in how you use GTFS Studio as all the key features and functions will remain the same.
How can I get further support?
