The 2026 edition of the **Regional Day Return Indicator** has been published on the Transport for NSW Open Data Hub.

The indicator measures regional centre connectivity by identifying locations where published public transport timetables allow customers to:

- travel to a designated regional centre
- spend at least four hours at the centre
- return to their originating public transport stop on the same day

It also identifies the associated population catchments with day-return access.

The indicator supports the objectives of the **Future Transport Strategy 2056** and its supporting **Regional NSW Services and Infrastructure Plan**. These include providing regional communities with greater transport choice, improving connections between regional centres, and supporting access to health services, business, shopping, recreation, family and friends.
