Latest data update: Household Travel Survey (HTS)
The latest Household Travel Survey (HTS) data has been published on the Open Data Portal.
HTS is the most comprehensive source of personal travel data for the Sydney Greater Metropolitan Area (GMA). The survey provides insights into average weekday travel patterns for residents across Greater Sydney, as well as parts of the Illawarra and Hunter regions.
Approximately 2,000–3,000 households participate in the survey each year, recording all trips made over a 24-hour period by members of the household.
Latest release – 9 March 2026
This release includes:
• 2024/25 data for Region, LGA and SA3 geographies
• Updated journey estimates for historical years
If you downloaded HTS data prior to 9 March 2026, please replace it with the latest released tables to ensure you are using the most current version.
